Some of you know I have a nasty habit of smoking cigarettes. Hopefully, that will all change come Monday. I have been swayed by a handful of friends and pages upon pages of positive reviews and testimonials to try switching to an e-cigarette.

Purchased a starter kit and a bunch of extras for the hubby and I to split a few nights ago, and it should all hopefully arrive here on Monday. Early birthday present to myself.

I guess now my cigarette will be clanky? Shocked

An e-cigarette? Those things seem really strange. Let us know how you get on, I'm sure everyone here is proud of you!

Keep it polished or it will rust!

I smoked for over 30 years and then quit cold-turkey when I moved to Brazil (which was surprising...a pack back in the States was nearly $5.00 while here they were less than a buck...).

It wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.

I still dislike being around someone who smokes as it really bothers me (as in irritates the hell out of me), but I no longer even have those moments where I used to think a cig sounded good, and I didn't turn into one of those self-righteous ex-smokers whom I loath, I just don't like the smoke nor the smell as it makes me ill, I don't really care if someone chooses to smoke or not.

A few years ago when I was back in the States for a visit, I stopped by my old place and was blown away by the smell and nicotine that coated everything, something I really never noticed when I smoked.

Best of luck. The difficult is making it long enough without smoking to break the small habits connected with it.

The starter kit arrived today, and I'm happily puffing out clouds of water vapor instead of clouds of tar and second hand smoke. I'm thinking I can stick with this. Wink

Ratty Phill (who smoked somewhere between 20-60 cigs a day, depending on his mood) quit. We were quite startled that he suddenly stopped and never touched another one again! We were shocked at how much he had to spend on those patches.....until he revealed that it was about half the amount he had been spending on cigarettes each week!

For J and I combined, we were spending about $70-80 a week on cigarettes. It's disgusting.

I know it's me, but I wouldn't even start smoking in the first place. On the station where I traveled with the train to school daily, the pavement was littered with cigar stubs, I get dizzy when being in a room with a smoking person too much, and I´m not even talking how (scientifically proven) bad it is for your health, and the health of others around you. As a concern of public health, I would suggest to prohibit smoking on public places. Which actually is a rule already but everyone just ignores it.

I applaud for your bravery, and sincerely hope you can get through this without too much hassle. Congratulations already!

good on you Gravity =)

The kids on my school bus who are literally aged 10-15 smoke at least 2 daily whether it's weed or not, the schools can't stop them from doing it and my bus stop just stinks like hell because of the weed and other things they smoke, some of the kids are a bit cuckoo at my school - apparently one of them has taken horse tranquilizer!

Anyways i never thought you would be one to smoke grav, i thought you were just the type of guy who likes to annoy other people (jk) Tongue Out

Haven't smoked a cigarette in my life, so I wouldn't know how hard it is to quit. I assume that Grav can quit by his pure will-power alone, though! Good luck Gravity, and I wish the best to you and J to a healthier "tar-free" life!

I haven't touched one since I opened up the e-cig package, but HE did!

I gave him a good whap up side the head, and he got rid of all of the rest of them in the house.

..and I just got more flavors today!

Did you really give him a slap or is that a colloquialism for "gay stuff"?

One hand on hip, thumb forward, other hand used to slap, open palm, then immediately after the slap is delivered that hand goes up the 'clutch the pearls' and you make a little 'humf' sound through pursed lips with one eyebrow arched?

I read the instructions in the Official Big Gay Handbook too... Thumbs Up

I still haven't touched a cigarette! Much too happy with the e-cig. I still go outside and talk with my smoking friends at work and 'vape' out there with them, and the smell is now pretty effing terrible to be around.
